REALTORS® Federal Credit Union believes that the Internet is the
future for financial services. Online credit union services provide
unparalleled access and flexibility for our members. We also understand
that the Internet is home to fraudsters, scammers, hackers and identity
thieves who are always looking for new ways to access your personal
information, finances and more. REALTORS® Federal Credit Union takes
every possible measure to maintain the highest level of security and
with a little vigilance you can do the same. Here are some tips for
staying safe on the Internet:
- Don’t reply to emails or pop-up messages “phishing” for personal
information.
- Always ensure that you know who you are dealing with. If you
are
unsure whether a promotion, advertisement, or request for information is
valid, find contact information for the individual/business in question
and initiate independent contact yourself.
- When shopping online or providing personal information through a
website always look for the “https:” URL, or other signs of a secure
site such as a “lock” icon on the browser status bar.
- Read online privacy policies so you know what website
administrators and online businesses are doing with your information.
Be aware of the access and abilities you are giving them.
- Keep your spyware, anti-virus and other computer safety
software up to date.
- Protect your passwords! Do not give them out and keep them
in a secure place.
myAccounts Online Password Tips
Signing on to myAccounts Online is the quickest and easiest way for
you to view and manage your REALTORS® Federal Credit Union accounts.
The password you choose is the first line of defense against
unauthorized access to your accounts. Our password parameters help you
create a password that will be difficult to duplicate and give you
maximum protection. Your password must contain:
- At least 6 characters
- At least one letter
- At least one number
- At least one symbol (non-alphanumeric)
- Upper and lower case letters
It is important to use passwords that will be hard for fraudsters to
replicate so you may want to avoid things like birthdates, variations
on your name or common words. Changing your password periodically can
be helpful as well.
