Bill MacBride is a trusted Mammoth Lakes Real Estate Agent who offers personalized residential listing and buying services in Mono and Inyo counties. MacBride is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and moved to the Eastern Sierra in 1995. From 2001 to January 2006 he was a Broker Associate with Coldwell Banker Mammoth Real Estate and in mid-January 2006 moved his real estate practice to Mammoth Properties. In early 2007 he was asked to move his practice back to Coldwell Banker and has been there ever since. MacBride is a member of the Mammoth Lakes Board of REALTORS®. REALTORS® FCU: How did you learn about the REALTORS® Federal Credit Union?

MacBride: Through an e-mail from National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).


REALTORS® FCU: Why did you join REALTORS® Federal Credit Union?

MacBride: I read about the services through NAR and thought that with the economy I might need some help down the road. I wanted to be preemptive so if I needed the help I would be set up and established. If I can go to you guys for a loan, why not? You appreciate REALTORS® more than a bank and have flexible lending standards knowing real estate the way you do.


REALTORS® FCU: What do you look for in a financial services provider?

MacBride: Well it was important to me that you were a part of NAR as well as somebody who knew the real estate industry. It’s also important that I have someone I can connect with – Stacey from your member care team is always a great help to me.


REALTORS® FCU: How can real estate professionals benefit from REALTORS® Federal Credit Union membership?

MacBride: Everyone should put in $100 and open an account. You’ll never know when you could use some help and this way you’ll already be in. From time to time go in and read about the services. By going ahead and depositing money I won’t be caught on my heels when I need a quick loan.


REALTORS® FCU: What is most rewarding about being in real estate?

MacBride: Both the freedom and the opportunity to serve people. Helping people is fun. I love to watch families reconnect and enjoy a home they bought.


REALTORS® FCU: What are your greatest accomplishments?

MacBride: In real estate I’ve taken advantage of all of the continuing education opportunities. They make me a better REALTOR®.


REALTORS® FCU: Currently what are your greatest business challenges?

MacBride: Providing accurate information on the economy so people can make an intelligent decision on whether or not they want to invest. Any time is a time to buy if you can get the right terms, but in a market like ours you have to be careful in what you tell them. People listen to you as a local expert. You have to give them non-biased, non-partisan information. Don’t sell at somebody else’s expense. You need to understand their needs and their goals.


REALTORS® FCU: What would you say to someone who is reluctant to use a virtual credit union?

MacBride: Talk to the credit union – call them and talk to them and have someone walk you through opening an account. When you don’t have knowledge, that’s when fear comes in. When you talk to someone and understand the process and the circumstances of the credit union you will feel better about it. You can always pick up the phone and talk to member care – they’re not somewhere overseas they’re right here in the United States.
