WASHINGTON (October 5, 2010) – Benny McMahan, a REALTOR® and former president-CEO of the Texas Association of REALTORS®, recently joined the REALTORS® Federal Credit Union as the Director of Industry Relations. In the newly formed position, McMahan will primarily work directly with local and state REALTOR® associations, as well as brokers, to help them communicate and promote benefits of the RFCU to members.
“The credit union is a valuable member benefit for REALTORS® and Benny is the best person to communicate its benefits to members. Everyone at the RFCU is looking forward to working with him,” said Dale Stinton, CEO of NAR.
“Benny is an industry leader who has worked in the real estate business since 1961, and RFCU is honored and privileged to have him serve as director of industry relations,” said Mike Brodie, chair of the RFCU board and former National Association of REALTORS® treasurer. “Benny has tirelessly dedicated his efforts to REALTORS® throughout Texas, as well as on a national level with his involvement in NAR.”
McMahan began his real estate career in Dallas, where he founded a residential real estate firm and was active with the Greater Dallas Association of REALTORS®. There he was elected president in 1976. Shortly after, McMahan served in countless other leadership roles including president of TAR in 1981, executive vice president of GDAR in 1982, and a regional vice president for NAR in 1982. In 1990 McMahan accepted TAR’s top staff position, president-CEO. During his term, McMahan played an active role in increasing membership by more than 50,000. He also helped spur the growth of its political action committee, to the largest PAC in Texas.
“I am extremely excited to take on this new opportunity with RFCU,” said McMahan. “RFCU delivers convenient, accessible financial services to REALTORS®. It’s a significant benefit that caters to every NAR member in a unique way. I’m ready to help spread that message among REALTORS®.”
“I know that Benny is going to be an invaluable member of our team and I know we will all benefit from the relationships that he has and will develop with our associations and brokers,” said Jane Pannier, president and CEO of RFCU.
The RFCU works in partnership independently with NAR as a REALTOR Benefits® Program Partner.
